I learned so much about educating my patients for possible adverse events prior to their injections and being prepared for the worst possible outcomes. Since taking the course, I had a patient that called 24 hours after lip filler and reported a white patch to her upper lip. I had her return to clinic immediately where I was prepared to dissolve her filler. Because of my education with MAAI, I was able to confidently recognize the problem and begin a prepared protocol for resolution. Luckily, in this case, we were able to apply heat and aggressive massage to the area and resolve the problem, but I was fully prepared with an emergency kit to dissolve her filler and return blood flow to the area if needed.
